My work as a journalist is my link to my local community.
In a twice-monthly business column called Shop Talk for the award winning online news journal, Berkeleyside.com, for four years I reported on local businesses that were opening, closing or changing in some way. I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to give a boost to local merchants through my column and provide a link between businesses and the residents of Berkeley, CA.
In addition to that regular column, I wrote articles on special assignment for Berkeleyside.com on topics relating to interesting people and events in the East Bay.
In an ongoing arts & culture series for the print publications of Oakland Magazine and Alameda Magazine, I interviewed and shined the light each month on emerging and well-established artists held in high esteem in the East Bay art scene. Being involved in this series brought me immense joy and illuminated the deeper trenches of our energized, inspired and seriously thriving art scene. In addition to these series, I have written several other articles for both magazines.
In 2020, I developed a broader, twice-monthly art column for 48 Hills, a progressive, independent news journal based in San Francisco, CA. For the publication, I profile artists in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. To follow the column, link to my 48 Hills Author Page here.
